NHK DOCUMENTARY (JAPAN PUBLIC TELEVISION)
June 7, 2020--June 7, 2021: We're In This Together: Life with the pandemic
NHK asked people to film their lives during the pandemic. They include health care workers on the front lines, an Italian opera singer, a small-town official in France's hardest-hit area and a Manhattan bagel shop owner. In this collection of videos, we witness people trying to do their part, by protecting their loved ones, reaching out to their communities and forging a "new normal" as they learn to live with the novel coronavirus. As the world faces its greatest crisis in generations, their stories overlap with ours, offering examples of human compassion, resilience and hope.
June 9-23, 2020: What Does the Post-Pandemic Labor Market Look Like?: Erica Groshen / Labor Economist, Cornell University/Former Commissioner of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics
As the U.S. slowly lifts restrictions after a two-month pandemic lockdown, things are not the same. Restaurants are re-opening with limited seating, face masks are required in public. But that's not all that has changed. Unemployment claims have hit 40 million, and the nation worries if jobs will ever come back to the same level before the pandemic. We asked Dr. Groshen about the impact of coronavirus on the labor market.
June 10, 2020--June 10, 2021: Conquering COVID-19: Malaysia

Side by Side will shoot Japanese and local people cooperating across the world to protect citizens from coronavirus, televising the images twice in series. First stage is Malaysia, where the case was the largest in the Southeast Asia temporarily. This time students at MJIIT set up by Malaysian and Japanese Governments are main characters. We'll shoot them fight at the front of measures against infectious disease controlling the red zone or making face shields and aerosol boxes with Japanese know-hows they learned at MJIIT.
